Your guide to specialist referrals

Our aim

To enter into a relationship to aid YOUR patients, YOUR practice and YOUR personal development.

We also aim to provide your referred patients with standards of service and clinical skills that will meet their needs and maintain positive relations with you, the referring dentist.

As the referring practitioner, our team of specialist referral coordinators will keep you fully informed, from the time we confirm receipt of your referral, to the completion of treatment. Your patient will also be fully informed of all aspects of their treatment, and details of our communications to them will be copied to you. Our Specialists only undertake the treatment for which the patient has been referred.

Once an assessment of the treatment referred has been made, patients will be informed about the different options that may be available to them, provided with a detailed treatment plan and an estimate of the costs involved. Treatment will not be undertaken until informed consent has been obtained. A copy of the treatment plan will be sent to the referring practitioner.

When the treatment has been completed, your patient will be returned to you for their continuing care. Patients receiving specialist treatment are recalled to the practice when appropriate to re-assess the long term prognosis of specialist treatment completed.

We care passionately about the quality of service we provide to both patients and referring dentists and actively welcome feedback and suggestions for improvement. In addition to offering a specialist referrals service, the Specialists run a variety of clinical study evenings and courses to support referring General Dental Practitioners in their continuing professional development.

Specialist Services

Our specialist services are available to all General Dental Practitioners who wish to refer patients for treatment which you as a GDP may not normally undertake. Reassuringly we will provide specialist treatment, following only the referring practitioners instructions, and always refer the patient back for their continuing and further care.
