What do Dental Hygienists do?

While your dentist concentrates on treating tooth and gum problems, it is the role of the dental hygienist to help prevent issues arising in the first place.

Dental Hygienists can carry out procedures such as cleaning and polishing teeth, replacing temporary crowns in emergencies, and taking impressions or moulds of your teeth so that dentures or crowns can be made. As they are able to spend more time with you, they can offer extra information and advice to help you take care of your teeth and gums.

Your Hygienist can also design home care plans, helping you to care for your mouth after any treatment you have.
