Restorative Dentistry

Richard Milner qualified as a Dentist in 1991 from the University of Liverpool. After graduating he worked in General Dental Practice for a number of years. He returned to hospital dentistry in 2001 and became a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons Edinburgh in 2003. In November 2003 he was appointed as a Specialist Registrar and Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield, completing his higher specialist training and the Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship Examinations in Restorative Dentistry in April 2009. He subsequently worked as a Locum Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital. He is registered on the GDC Specialist Lists in restorative dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics and periodontics.

He has broad experience of the clinical challenges facing patients with a wide range of dental problems. He has treated numerous complex cases associated with genetic disorders, malignancy, tooth wear, advanced periodontal disease and endodontic problems. He has a special interest in the multidisciplinary management of patients requiring a combination of restorative, orthodontic and implant treatment. He has undertaken further advanced endodontic training in Santa Barbara, California and Ballaigues, Switzerland.

Richard is committed to continuing professional development and has kept up-to-date with courses and conferences in the UK, Europe and the USA. He was actively involved in teaching and training both under graduate and post graduate students at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield. He is an experienced Lecturer and has given lectures on endodontics, the restorative aspects of implant dentistry and restorative treatment planning on numerous postgraduate training and professional education courses for general dental practitioners.

Richard’s broad expertise in restorative dentistry and specialist training in prosthodontics, endodontics and periodontics enable him to support you and your referring dentist in the most appropriate way.

In his spare time Richard enjoys cycling and hiking. He is also a keen musician and plays trumpet, cornet and guitar.

Cosmetic and restorative dentistry, including crowns, bridges, dental reconstruction, fillings, veneers and TMJ.

Dr Bob McLelland qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree at the University of Dundee in 1993 when he also received a Merit in Prosthetic Dentistry and a prize in Conservative Dentistry. He became a Member of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners in 2002. In 2006 he gained his Masters degree in Dental Sciences (Restorative) with Merit at University of Leeds supported by his Thesis “Comparative Analysis of Excursive Tooth Contacts In Average Value and Programmed Articulator Using Computerised Axiography”. In 2007 Bob completed the Dr Mark Piper course, a one year course in the USA on advanced jaw joint disorders and occlusion taught by one of the world’s leading jaw surgeons.

Following a position as a House Office at Dundee Dental Hospital in 1994 Bob subsequently joined the Royal Air Force and served from 1995 to 2000 as a Dental Officer. In 2000 he worked in the renowned Carisbrooke Dental Practice and Implant Centre in Leicester and from there moved to St Ann’s Dental Clinic in Manchester in 2003.

Bob is fully committed to both continuing his own professional personal development and providing postgraduate education for other Dentists. He is a member of multiple dental societies in America and the UK as well as Europe. As a well experienced and respected Lecturer Bob has lectured Nationally on cosmetic and restorative dentistry whilst contributing to the restorative, implant, aesthetic and tooth preparation post graduate courses at St Ann’s Dental Clinic. He is also a Clinical Opinion Leader with the UK’s leading dental company, giving advice on the clinical use of dental materials.

Bob is impassioned by the challenge of creating beautiful smiles with both natural form and lasting function, advanced cosmetic and restorative dentistry and particularly welcomes referrals from colleagues for this type of treatment.

In addition to carrying out restorative dentistry to the highest standard. Dr McLelland is particularly interested with issues relating to TMJ or the Tempromandibular Joint.

Patients can often suffer from a range of symptoms such as headaches, jaw clenching or grinding of teeth which can lead to wear and tear of teeth, general facial pain and reduced quality of life. Frequently, undiagnosed TMJ problems can occur as a result of whiplash injuries following road traffic accidents.

In his spare time, Bob enjoys cycling, landscape photography and hill walking along with a keen interest in most sports, particularly football.

Dr Andrew Legg

Andrew Legg graduated from the University of Manchester in 2001. He joined a large dental practice in South Manchester the same year becoming an Associate in 2002. He then became a Partner in August 2003 following the departure of two esteemed colleagues. This extensive experience in general practice has given Andrew grounding in all aspects of dental care allowing a fully comprehensive approach to patient care.

In 2004 Andrew began his post graduate training in oral surgery and implant dentistry and has since undertaken over 300 hours of training including an 18 month Clinical Certificate in Implantology at the University of Sheffield and Advanced Surgical Training at the Royal College of Surgeons. More recently Andrew passed his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

Andrew has experience with several of the major implant systems as well as the use of Nobel Guide CT scan guided surgery. He has particular interest in the use of 3D stereolithographic modelling from CT scans and their application in reconstructive implant dentistry. Andrew also works as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in Oral Surgery at the University of Manchester.

Andrew is passionate about the use of dental implants in helping restore patients to a more natural form and function and believes they play a pivital role in improving the quality of life and general health in patients.

As well as his clinical exploits Andrew is proud to be an endorsing Dentist for the major UK charity Action for Sick Children and has been involved in the launch of the Dental Playbox Scheme which aims to dispel the myths of visiting the dentist, educating under-privileged children countrywide.

Away from the surgery Andrew is married with three young children and outside of work he enjoys following most sport particularly rugby, where until recently he has enjoyed playing to a high standard. Injury has forced him onto the sidelines but he has since started coaching in the junior section at Bowdon RUFC.

Richard Brookshaw qualified as a Dentist in 1996 from the University of Dundee. In 1999 he gained his Masters degree in Oral Surgery from the University of Sheffield, and further extended his clinical qualification in 2001 by completing an 18 month implant training programme, also at the University of Sheffield, where he was actively involved in the joint development programme that is run between UK and Chieti, Italy.

Richard was based initially in Leicester for his VDP year and worked there as a Clinical Assistant in Oral Surgery at Leicester Royal Infirmary. From 1997 to 1999 Richard worked as a Senior House Officer in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at Sheffield University, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Northern General Hospital and Sheffield Children’s Hospital as well as treating referral oral surgery patients in part-time practice in Doncaster. In 2000 Richard extended his clinical practice, accepting further referrals for oral surgery and dental implants.

Richard is both nationally and internationally respected as a Lecturer and Mentor in Implant Dentistry, Immediate same day implants (same day smiles) and Nobelguide/CT scan guided surgery. He also lectures for Nobel Biocare on a range of advanced implant techniques. He is a regular lecturer and contributor to their world tour. Richard is also an honorary teaching fellow for the Manchester University MSc in Dental Implantology.

Richard exclusively practices all aspects of implant dentistry, including hard and soft tissue augmentation, sinus grafting and teeth in an hour.

Richard has lectured nationally and internationally since 2003 on the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry, where he offers more formal training on his year long implant programme through his education company, the centre for advanced dental education (CADE). He was the keynote speaker at the Clinical Innovations Conference held in London in May 2008 and has undertaken further training in Holland, Germany, USA, France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Croatia and Belgium.

In 2009, he was one of the first five Implant Dentists in the country to be awarded the Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Dip Imp Dent RCS Ed).

He loves to travel, enjoying the opportunity to network and socialise with a wide group of Dentists from many different countries. In his spare time, when not enjoying time with his young family, Richard enjoys most forms of sports, particularly golf, football, cricket and cycling.

Cosmetic & Restorative Dentistry

Dr Daniel Hines qualified as a Dentist in 1999, being awarded a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree at London Hospital Medical College. He has been studying for a Masters in Clinical Dentistry at Kings College, London since 2007 and a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons also since 2007. He has attended numerous post graduate courses to further his clinical skills and experience including Certificates in implant dentistry, restorative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry and a range of courses in cosmetic skin rejuvenation.

His meticulous standards of care and treatment make him a sought after and popular choice with patients.

Outside of work Daniel enjoys following most sports, particularly rugby, along with spending time with his young family.

Dental Hygienist & Dental Therapist

Sabha qualified from the University of Sheffield with a dual qualification in Dental Hygiene & Dental Therapy. Sabha has a warm and gentle manner and is often referred to as the 'gentle hygienist' by her patients. Since qualification she divides her time between working in private practice and for the NHS. Sabha's clinical role at St Anns involves treating adults and children for dental treatment. The main difference between seeing Sabha and a dentist is that unlike a dentist, Sabha does not carry out check ups, root treatment, adult extractions, crowns, bridges and advanced treatment. Instead Sabha works to a dentists prescription and her clinical role is limited to:

Treating children for: fillings, extractions, fissure sealants (protective plastic caps), flouride therapy, scale & polish, local anaesthesia, root treatment.

Treating adults for: treatment & prevention of gum disease, scale & polish, tooth coloured fillings, tooth whitening, x-rays, temporary fillings, impression taking, de-sensitising therapy, smoking cessation, locally applied antimicrobials, oral hygiene and diet advice.

In 2011 Sabha went on the 'Smiles by James Goolnik' course and now carries out tooth whitening using the famous Zoom and Enlighten whitening systems.

Facial Aesthetic Nurse

Carmel began her career in aesthetic medicine in 2000, at the EFACE clinic of Aesthetic Medicine at Alderley Edge and Wilmslow, in Cheshire, appearing in the Cheshire Life magazine and on ITV’s The Afternoon Show.

Carmel then worked for a short time at Surgicare in Manchester, and later at the Skin Fitness Clinic in Sale, Cheshire before taking up her present position as the Facial Aesthetic Nurse at St Ann’s FACE Clinic (Facial Aesthetic Centre of Excellence) part of The James Hull Group.

During this time Carmel has had extensive training in a wide range of non-surgical and anti-ageing treatments, including muscle relaxing injections, line fillers, lip augmentation, chemical peels, face, hand and neck rejuvenation and Mesotherapy, and Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Carmel was personally trained in mesotherapy and the management of cellulite by Dr. Elisabeth Dancey, in London, a highly respected specialist in the management of cellulite and mesotherapy and Author of  “The Cellulite Solution”.

Carmel offers a free cConsultation to every client. This will often include use of the skin scanner and advice on skin rejuvenation and a range of anti-ageing products.

Carmel is particularly keen to make time for each client and to personalise the advice and treatment to that person.
