Periodontics

Epidemiological studies show that 10 to 15% of all patients are susceptible to periodontitis. It is recommended that patients presenting with one or more of the following symptoms should be referred for a periodontal examination:

  • red, swollen and or bleeding gums
  • periodontal pockets over 4mm
  • smokers
  • generalised recession
  • bone loss observed on radiographs
  • Periodontitis
  • Crown lengthening
  • Root resection and hemisection
  • Peri-implantitis
  • Congenital or drug related gingival enlargement
  • Mucogingival and Periodontal plastic surgery
  • Frenectomy and frenotomy
  • Gingival grafts
  • Root coverage
