Periodontics
Epidemiological studies show that 10 to 15% of all patients are susceptible to periodontitis. It is recommended that patients presenting with one or more of the following symptoms should be referred for a periodontal examination:
- red, swollen and or bleeding gums
- periodontal pockets over 4mm
- smokers
- generalised recession
- bone loss observed on radiographs
- Periodontitis
- Crown lengthening
- Root resection and hemisection
- Peri-implantitis
- Congenital or drug related gingival enlargement
- Mucogingival and Periodontal plastic surgery
- Frenectomy and frenotomy
- Gingival grafts
- Root coverage
