Glycolic Skin Peel
What is Glycolic Acid?
Glycolic is a pure alpha hydroxy acid derived from sugar cane. It is a powerful exfoliant that effectively removes the build up of dead skin cells on the outer layer of the skin (epidermis). Having a very small molecular structure it is able to penetrate the epidermis and stimulate fibroblast activity, thereby increasing the synthesis of new collagen cells. It allows increased permeability therefore improving penetration of clinically based skin care products.
Our glycolic acid peel also contains a number of invaluable ingredients: vitamin C, white mulberry, bearberry, kojic acid, vitamin A and vitamin E. As a combined force this peel offers, exfoliation, stimulation, revitalisation and a depigmenting action that will not irritate the skin. It has very useful anti-bacterial qualities, which makes it an invaluable treatment for acne.
Does it hurt?
It is advisable to begin your course of treatment with a lower strength peel of 20% glycolic acid. A very mild, tingling sensation will be experienced, this is a superficial peel. During the forthcoming weeks the peel strength and duration can be increased.
Do I need to take time off work?
This is truly a lunchtime procedure. Your skin will merely present with a healthy glow after the treatment is finished and make up may be applied. The glycolic peel may be treated as a skin ‘pep’ perhaps prior to a special event. It will improve texture and tone in just one session.
Who can benefit from this peel?
Anyone at any age can benefit. Teenage to adult acne, pigmentation through sun damage or hormonal influences and moderate to advanced aging can expect significant improvement from this system.
What is the procedure like?
The skin is cleansed and then a prepeel solution applied. This lowers the pH of the skin and purifies it. The peel solution is then applied and left for about 2 minutes. A neutralising solution is then placed on the skin to stop the action of the glycolic. A marine mist is then sprayed onto the face, its calming properties help restore the natural pH of the skin. A 100% vitamin C serum is then applied, followed by a sun protection factor 30. Your skin will feel refreshed, revitalised, smoother and look much brighter.
